Tooth Sealants

If we have children which either have teeth that are such that they seem susceptible to tooth decay, or are already starting to experience decay then we can be proactive and seal the teeth (usually the back teeth) with special sealants.

The procedure is very easy and simple. The teeth are isolated using cotton rolls or rubber dam depending on the age of the child and their comfort. The chewing surface of the teeth are then painted with an etching solution left for 30 seconds then washed and dried, then a bonding layer is painted on it and a composite resin placed and set on the tooth.

This will last for a number of years.
