Wisdom Tooth Extractions

We undertake all aspects of wisdom tooth removal including impacted teeth.

We first take a pan oral x-ray. This allows us to see exactly where the tooth lies and at what angles and also what important structures are near the tooth so as we are aware have these during our surgery.

We then will arrange an appointment with you to have the offending tooth removed. If it is infected which is why you came to see us, it is important to have this infection first treated before you undergo the surgery. We will supply you with the necessary medication for infection control and for postoperative pain control, our dentist are trained in the prescribing of appropriate medications.

As previously mentioned you may have these extractions done with either local anaesthetic or with the aid of sedation-using nitrous oxide (laughing gas) or using intravenous sedation with hypnoval ("sleep" sedation) see later for fuller explanation.

Depending on the case we may use self-dissolving stitches or ones that need to be professionally removed by the dentist or the trained staff.
